MAKE YOUR WORK MORE HONEST
Usually, simple truths are the hardest to articulate, the moments and ideas that most make us who we are, the ones we most desperately struggle to communicate.
Truth and Fact is a four-week generative workshop where students will practice writing that which is simple but not easy. We will do this by studying contemporary poets and analyzing the difference between Truth and Fact, learning to use both when they are the appropriate tool.
Every week will focus on both producing a piece of work and understanding a new writing tool to help make all of your work more honest, whether it be personal tales of struggle or pure fiction.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jared Singer is an Audio Engineer and poet who lives in Nutley, NJ. While he may have physically grown up with his peers, he has never forgotten the imagination, magic, and nerdiness that were cornerstones of his childhood. He hopes to remind others of these more creative times. He has also appeared on the Indiefeed Performance Poetry Podcast. He has represented New York eight times at the National Slam level, including two final stage appearances at the National Poetry Slam. His work has been featured in The Legendary, Danse Macabre, and the Huff Post. Jared has long believed in the healing power of the mountains, kittens, and lists of three.
