About the Instructor

Kat Magill is an author, poet and producer residing in Los Angeles, CA. For over 15 years Kat has inspired audiences with her passion-filled performances challenging the status quo of how the world perceives women in poetry. Kat’s career led her to share stages with Emmy winner Iyanla Vanzant, New York Times Best Seller Claudia Rankine, Grammy nominated Ozomatli, and the legendary Sonia Sanchez.

Her radical approach to the stage, big screen, and the virtual world of spoken word forged her success as a national touring poet, leading innovator of poetic media and the architect of virtual poetry slam.

She wrote and produced her debut film, The Myth, in 2019. Hundreds flocked to witness poetry in theaters and were eager to join the film’s call to action to end violence against women. After her second screening of The Myth at Raleigh Studios, the home of Netflix, Kat toured the film at universities enamoring students with its unapologetic poetry sparking empowering conversations about healing.
